The Jellycats – ‘Home’ [Review]

Here in the UK, we’re all making the most of a late summer – and with Home, the Jellycats have the perfect soundtrack for anyone intent on staying out past their bedtime and celebrating our nation’s weather-based good fortunes. Upbeat ska grooves, snotty and tongue-in-cheek vocals, and a bit of additional pisstaking bookending a fun song that’s as infectious as chlamydia; everything you need to chuck your worldly cares away for three and a half minutes is in here. Head downscreen to hear Home while I go delete all the chlamydia-related Google searches I just did from my internet history. Read more…

Darko – ‘Sea Of Trees’ [Review]

darko sea of treesAbout as raw as a Dirty Sanchez and Jackass marathon, Darko don’t let up for a second on Sea Of Trees. Black Art / Surrender The Coast – ‘Split EP’ [Review]

black art surrender the coastWriting with ears full of hardcore this…well…hardcore isn’t exactly conducive to lucid, flowing prose. There’s so much going on that it’s a miracle I managed to even breathe while listening to this split release – so here are the words that made it through the soundwaves and best summed up the experience: Read more…

ASTPAI – ‘Burden Calls’ [Review]

burdencalls_cover_webFrom the opening building blocks of Single Use to the gritty, harsh tones of Emotion In The WayBurden Calls is a brilliant mix of the familiar and original. Yes, it’s punk – but there are plenty of imaginative touches that set ASTPAI apart from the rest. Whether it be a dose of mathy complexity, a moment of melancholy vibes, or a surge of cliff-jumping explosiveness, ASTPAI aren’t afraid to push the boat out beyond the traditional, often militantly enforced boundaries that separate classic punk from contemporary rock.
