Following Foxes – ‘Almost Lost It’ [Review]

FollowingFoxesTunes like this make me proud to live in Guildford.

This town is a true hotbed of talent, as evidenced by much of TMMP’s output to date – and Almost Lost It is the latest in a long, long line of stellar releases put out by local artists. From radio-friendly hooks and effective arranging to instrumental nous and formidable songwriting chops, Following Foxes have the lot. One single and one show into their career, they’re already showing more commitment and more ambition than many of their peers, making them an instant band to watch. If you’re in A&R, head to their official site (linked below) and get it bookmarked; if you forget about these guys you’re going to end up kicking yourself.

If you’re a music fan, emerging acts like Following Foxes should be all the reason you need to get involved with your local scene. Fuck the X-Factor and its fake-crying smoke-and-mirrors bullshit; all you ned to do to discover honest music played by musicians who actually mean it is walk out of your front door and head to a local venue. You probably know that already, but it bears repeating. And so does this: Following Foxes have a great future ahead of them. This is obvious at the start; imagine where they’ll be in a few years’ time.
