Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – ‘Ballad Of The Mighty I’ [Review]
Noel Gallagher scarcely needs an introduction – but given that some people out there are unaware of Paul McCartney’s existence, maybe he will soon. Gallagher has a well-deserved and hard-earned reputation as one of the best songwriters of an entire generation – a phenomenon who emerged as a core member of Britpop legends Oasis and is continuing to make waves with his own project, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Those same Birds are set to release a brand new album (Chasing Yesterday) on March 3rd – and The Ballad of the Mighty I will be closing proceedings on said long-player.
Ballad of the Mighty I boasts an urban strut brimming with self assurance and sharpened by a menacing edge mirrored perfectly by the accompanying video (see below). It is, to say the least, fucking awesome. As for the full LP, Chasing Yesterday promises a wide variety of stylistic influences to be combined into a cohesive and immersive whole – a promise sure to get Gallagher fans salivating. Head down to the video and links below – and do all you can to make sure the next generation of rock fans remember Noel Gallagher’s name.
