The Offspring – ‘Coming For You’ [Review]
Although Coming For You‘s grooves lack the granite-solid feel of the Offspring’s greatest songs, you can’t fault them for trying something new. Coming For You is a no-nonsense rock tune, and it would likely go over well as part of a full-on live set – but still, on this recording it feels like something’s missing.
This time out, the Offspring sound like caged animals having their killer instincts crushed by digital production techniques and pressure to pander to radio playlisters. Having said that, Coming For You still rocks – and as a case study in songcraft, this is pretty much a textbook example of how to get the job done. A mixed bag from a band who obviously have better things up their sleeves.
