Bigtopp Discuss: The Boileroom & UK Live Music

bigtoppWith Guildford venue the Boileroom facing the possibility of closure, TMMP caught up with gangster-ska band Bigtopp to discuss the Boileroom and the state of the UK’s live music scene.

This interview is part of a larger TMMP feature which can be read in full here.

What is your general opinion of the Boileroom?

A unique, intimate venue with a spanking soundsystem that creates a wonderful music experience.

What would happen if the Boileroom were to shut down? What impact would that event have?

If you lose The Boileroom there’s nothing to replace it. The up and coming bands won’t be able to put their music out there, and lovers of live music would be left kicking their heels.

What is your favourite Boileroom-related memory?

Headlining as a part of our UK Summer tour w. The Ohmz.

How do you feel about the state of the UK’s live music scene right now? What could be done to improve things?

More people need to go out and watch a gig… it’s as simple as that. Go out, support your venue and bring in the bands…

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

It would be an absolute upset to lose such a cracking live music venue.
