Takedown Festival 2015 [Festival Preview]
Planning a quiet night in this Saturday? Considering lighting some scented candles, taking a bubble bath, and listening to some light jazz?
The hell you are!
If you’re a serious UK rock fan, you’re doing one of two things this weekend. You’re either heading to Southampton for Takedown Festival and getting sweaty in the pit for an immense lineup of epic bands, or you’re going to stare silently into the mirror for several hours, wondering where your parents went wrong, before shuffling to bed and crying yourself to sleep. Either way, Yankee Candles and Kenny G aren’t getting a look in.
Back to that lineup. For forty quid – the price of a dodgy ten-minute taxi ride on your average Saturday night – you can treat yourself to a bunch of top-drawer bands, a good many of whom are firm TMMP favourites. Mallory Knox, Charlie Simpson, The Blackout, Arcane Roots, Rolo Tomassi, iNMe, Heart of a Coward, Bleed From Within, Devil Sold His Soul, The Hell, Baby Godzilla, Moose Blood, Allusondrugs – if that list does not make you unbearably tumescent, there is something wrong with you. Then you have the brilliant Black Peaks (recommended by Jamie Lenman during a recent TMMP interview), the hotly tipped Ashestoangels, and promising up-and-comers like Miss Vincent, We Deny, Seething Akira and Forever Never.
One thing’s for sure – if you don’t grab a ticket for Takedown ASAP, you will wind up getting through forty quid’s worth of Kleenex before you get an opportunity like this again. It’s not worth the tears. Do the right thing.
